Projects Underway to Aid Huntington’s Traffic Flow

Creek Construction Equipment Guide

In just one year’s time, travelers through Huntington, N.Y.’s major business district will enjoy a faster and safer journey after the completion of a project to reconstruct two NY Route 110 bridges over the Long Island Expressway, improving traffic flow along this vital stretch of the Route 110 corridor. New York State Department of Transportation studies show that this interchange is used by approximately 88,000 motorists each day.

The primary contractor for this project, Posillico Civil, based in Farmingdale, NY, is reconstructing the bridges over the expressway and improving vertical clearance for higher profile vehicles. The South Service Road will be widened to provide three travel lanes and shoulders for each direction, with improvements to its intersections and the expressway exit and entrance ramps. In addition to these improvements, the project also includes: new asphalt, modification of drainage system, updating the signals, and new pavement markings and signage. Posillico Civil began work on the $27.9 million project in May 2009 and is on schedule for its estimated time of completion of November 2011.
